Casa Moscia - a gem on Lake Maggiore

Easter 2026 we were allowed to spend in Casa Moscia. The property is a total work of art, all laid out and maintained with great attention to detail. The management and the team not only take wonderful care of the hotel, but also of the gods! We will - God willing and we live - gladly come back.

A great stay!

The complex is beautifully located on the lake and is very easily accessible by public transport. There are plenty of opportunities to linger outside (deckchairs etc.), but also the common room with literature and direct views of the mountains and the lake I enjoyed very much. The buffet food is varied and lovingly prepared. The room is chic and functional. Really recommendable!

Favorite place in Switzerland

reopened after renovation!
Location directly on the lake (Lago Maggiore), with its own beach

Lovely setting but there are much better nearby places at this price

This hotel has a fabulous location, it’s beautiful. The balconies have wonderful views. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The place is clean and well organised. The breakfast is acceptable. But… for frequent travellers like me there are two simple top priorities in a hotel: do you sleep well and do you get a good shower in the morning? Unfortunately this hotel scores zero out of two. The bed was tiny, too small for an average adult. The pillow was awful. While the soundproofing to outside was effective, there was considerable noise transfer from the corridor and neighbouring rooms. As for the shower, I knew what I booked but I still wasn’t prepared for a tiny shower cubicle and adjacent toilet, shared between up to nine guest rooms. There’s one shower on each floor, in which they don’t even provide soap or shampoo. If you’re used to going camping, you probably don’t mind, but if you’re used to the basic amenities of even a budget hotel, you’ll be disappointed here. Final point: a jug of kept-warm coffee is provided at breakfast but if you want an espresso or cappuccino you have to go get it yourself from upstairs where there’s a basic automated coffee machine that you have to pay to use. Italy might be just across the lake but the coffee hasn’t made the trip over. Conclusion: lovely setting but overall there are much better nearby places at this price.

Nice cosy clean hotel feeling welcomed and home despite difficult access

Room with Lakeview balcony direct at the waterfront is superb and the layback easy atmosphere feeling, good liquid/dry snack facilities in commonly used area for reading, family board games, talking, internetting, swimming, sunbathing, family sports made it a very pleasent stay.
But access is difficult: no un/upload place for your luggage at hotel, the uphill parking area is 250m away and then the "killing", the high en steep stairs to hotel entrance for (elderly) people with some walking and/or breath difficulties, despite using trolley flight cabin cases.
