Hotel East-West Riverside smješten je u živahnom središtu Kleinbasela, tik uz rijeku Rajnu, na samo nekoliko minuta hoda preko mosta od starog grada Basela i 10 minuta vožnje tramvajem od izložbenog centra Messe Basel (linija 6).

We had a wonderful stay at this charming hotel. The lift was a plus for my mother who can't do stairs. Our corner room provided a cross-breeze, which was nice in the heat. The view of the old town just across the bridge was stunning. The included breakfast was convenient and delicious. The hotel did not provide an airport shuttle, but Uber worked fine.

Extremely disrespectful treatment from one of the waiters

We arrived around 4 p.m. and sat with my family on the terrace by the river. Since the main kitchen was still closed, we ordered pizza, drinks and beers. The first waiter was very friendly and professional.
After a shift change, however, a second waiter started serving us. While my brother and I were at the table, everything was fine. But as soon as we left to swim in the river, his attitude toward my mother and girlfriend changed completely. Neither of them speaks German or English.
He told them they had to leave our table because it was supposedly reserved. When my mother asked for another table on the second terrace, he refused and said that because they were “only having drinks,” they should sit at an uncomfortable high table at the back. This was particularly inappropriate considering that my mother is 72 years old.
When I returned, I saw other guests sitting at the same tables without any apparent reservation. Throughout the situation, the waiter had been extremely disrespectful and aggressive and had even shouted at them. Strangely, when I confronted him myself, his attitude immediately changed and he became polite again. In my view, this behavior was cowardly and sexist.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is that we had already spent around CHF 180 and were planning to stay for dinner and order a proper meal once the full kitchen opened. Our final bill could easily have been double or triple that amount, but after this experience we decided to have dinner elsewhere.
It is a shame because the location is very nice and other staff members were kind and professional. Unfortunately, this kind of disrespectful treatment is simply unacceptable.

Great choice for Basel visit

Location was better than we expected - short walk to many of best sites, activities, food, trams. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent version of what you expect for free. Our room looked over street - which was under heavy construction, so view was marred and noisy at times. Always felt safe. Room itself was tight, but clean, comfy, and well set up. Would gladly return if headed back to Basel.

Breakfast was good but all around the hotel there were cranes that started instructions at 6 o’clock in the morning outside your window at window height

In Basel stay at EastWest Hotel

We stayed at EastWest Hotel Basel for 4 nights in May of 2026. The rooms are tiny and expensive, but the location is fabulous. The old city is just across the bridge and whenever you get tired of walking you can conveniently get to the hotel. The hotel also gives you transportation ticket for the duration of your stay. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The front desk staff has helped us scheduling our railroad trips to Calmar. We have really enjoyed our stay
