Convenient and central location for visits to places of interest in Basel. Adequate breakfast.
Ineffective air-conditioning in rooms.

Dirty room

I give 2 stars for it's convenient location and the pleasant staff. The room was a different story. The morning after the first night I noticed large stains on the duvet. I thought the water in the toilet was just yellow but upon further inspection I realised it was a build up of dirt from not being cleaned properly. On the flush there was marks as if someone scribbled on it with a red crayon. There was a hole in the curtain. As we were only staying 2 nights we settled to having the room cleaned. It shouldn't have been like that in the first place.

Not 4 star, but a decent hotel for the money.

Definitely not a 4 star as stated. But it's clean, very convenient, good staff and spacious rooms. On the down side, there's no AC and a bit of street noise.

The room was clean and the staff were helpful, but the connection to turn on the shower came off in my hand. Also there was no air in the room - no AC and you couldn’t open the window. The doors of the Metropol don’t open but you enter through the hotel next door. I had to call to find that out. The gentleman who answered the phone then came out to find me and brought my luggage up the stairs to the entrance.

Not a 4 star, but convenient to the trains and buses. Not bad for the price paid.
