Simple but comfortable and very clean

Typical youth hostel except that beds are comfortable and the place is very clean. We stayed there one night during our mountain bike trip (alpine road) in the summer and it was almost empty. Nice place if you are travelling through Meiringen.

Good Budget Option

I stayed in the dorm and thought it was very good for what you pay. I've paid between 25-60 CHF for dorm rooms on my trip and at 36 CHF including breakfast this was a bargain.
Only criticism is that you have to pay for WiFi. That is just plain cheap!

Rude proprietress

Okay, the facility is clean and the price is low. But our experience was marred by rude treatment from the proprietress. When we arrived, the proprietor was cordial enough, but he shocked us by saying that we would not be served dinner. We had made our reservation (for room, breakfast and dinner) months earlier, and had reconfirmed just a couple of weeks before arriving (and received an acknowledgement from the proprietor). So the proprietor eventually had to admit that we were in the right. But he kept making obviously lame excuses, and we had to go out looking for a restaurant (after a very long and tiring day of hiking). What was going on? We found out that evening, when we learned that the proprietor's wife's family was visiting from Spain. They were loud, took up space in the guest's common area and distracted the proprietor and his wife from attending to paying guests. That was bad enough. But when we came down to breakfast the next morning, the proprietress herself gave us the rudest treatment we have ever experienced in Switzerland. She had set fancy place settings for her family in the guests' breakfast area, and barked at guests when they (innocently) assumed that it was okay to sit there. She mocked guests, acted like a drama queen, loudly complained about guests and generally treated guests like pests. We couldn't wait to get away from there. This was my eighth hiking trip in Switzerland, and one member of our party lived in Switzerland for a year. We have never seen such rudeness in a Swiss establishment. Of course, the proprietress is not a native Swiss.
Our room (six bunk beds stacked three high) was hot, and very crowded. We have stayed in many huts and dormitory-style accommodations while hiking, and this one provided the least space.

Good Value Budget Hostel

We paid $40 ea for small private room with twin beds, linens, sink, table and windows with lace curtains (about the same price we had been paying for dorm beds). only one other male guest was staying, so it was quiet. Owner made just the two of us a bountiful Swiss breakfast. Large dining room with newspapers, TV's etc. Very clean.

Niet altijd een warm welkom helaas.

Eigenaar ontvangt je vriendelijk en is erg aardig. Helaas bij mijn 2e bezoek niet meer gezien. Hier ‘ontving’ de vrouw me. Zij is echter volledig het tegenovergestelde, dit verpest echter wel mijn ervaring hier. In combinatie met nog wat onbeschofte gasten maakten het verblijf er niet beter op.
Redelijk rumoerig in de vroege ochtend, afwasmachine moet schijnbaar al voor 7:30u aan, grenst direct aan de slaapruimte. Ik hoef niet uit te slapen, maar iets later beginnen met lawaai zou denk ik wel kunnen.
Bedden en sanitair zijn oké.
Al met al kan ik er helaas geen positieve beoordeling van maken.
