Great woodwork - Quaint, clean highly recommended place.

Very nice staff and we have despite horrendous prices and hardly available accommodation for a very reasonable price booked a room at short notice. The rooms quaint but well decorated and clean.
The food in the restaurant and the breakfast were very good.

Old reviews are out of date! Great value and a credit to the owner.

This Hotel desperately needs an updated review! It has been revamped and modernised to an excellent standard for what is the lowest cost hotel we could find in the area for a couple of nights stay.
It is one of the nicest and well appointed Hotels we have stayed in in many countries over the last fifty years including several in Switzerland. It is good value for money with a warm and friendly welcome, very good menu delivering a fine variety of well cooked and presented tasty meals.
The rooms are traditional Swiss with the use of wood in a variety of original and pleasing ways that extends throughout the whole property,
The beds were amongst the most comfortable Hotel beds we have experienced and we slept soundly though it has to be said that the main road traffic might disturb a light sleeper.
Lots to do in the area and the literature stock for attractions is well stocked.
Toilet and shower facilities are a little cramped but not to the extent that we would complain! This hotel is good value, comfortable and a great base for trips.

Very nice hotel

Very clean, friendly staff.Good beds. Shower a bit outdated but functional. Rooms are decorated with lepricorns. We had a tree as wardrobe! Very special! Nice terrace and good food. All Swiss meat. Very good breakbeats. Beautifull nature. Outdoor swimming pool at walking distance. Beautifull walks. We love of!

Dated and decrepit

My room was probably decorated / redecorated fifty years ago and still the same to this day. No elevators so had to walk up two floors despite knee problems. Badly installed flat screen tv right under the ceiling with very limited choice of channels. No shampoo, just two bars of very cheap soap. The owner thinks this is good enough. Room was bare and unfriendly. No cups or any other aminities in the room. No desk but a worn out low table. A very dilapidated heating system which could not be controlled from within the room. So open window shut window for good portion of time. As a result very unrestful night. Signs of neglect everywhere.
The breakfast was poor, very limited choice. Bottles of fruit juice one third full. Who knows when was the last time someone used it.
On the plus side, it is within walking distance to the cable car going up to the Reichenbach falls.

OK for one night

This hotel is somewhat outside of Meiringen, but there is a good bus service. It is on the main street going up to the Grimsel pass, so during the day there is a LOT of traffic. The rooms are adequate but very small. OK for one night. Continental breakfast, coffee very weak. The Reichenbach Falls are within walking distance.
