Best hoteliers who are aceing it
From a very prompt pick up request from the train station in an electric mini bus to the swift check out everything was top notch. This hoteliers family are very successful and have thought of absolutely everything to made our stay extremely comfortable and relaxing putting a smile on our faces. Breakfasts and dinner were outstanding with food, drinks, service and beautiful wooden fixtures and fittings. They surprised me with a decorated table and warm birthday wishes. The control panel for separate lighting zones mirror and towel heater, modern shower and double sink areas were as stylish as the main area of the room. Balcony view was special overlooking the fast flowing river and Zermatt’s wooden chalet type buildings. Very comfortable bed gave good nights’ rest every time. Good coffee and tea in the room. Chocolates at bedtime was thoughtful, as well as rucksack to hire or buy. Plentiful choices of spa treatments. Location is easy for walking to shops, restaurants, tourist office and trains and is near the Bergbahnen for Matterhorn Alpine Crossing. Tv displays Matterhorn’s current temperature and wind speed at 3883 metres. Plush bathrobes were so comfy I spent a lot of time wearing one.

great, relaxing stay in Zermatt
very beautiful, elegant hotel in the center of Zermatt, near the Sunnegga funicular. Friendly staff, beautiful spa area, very delicious food. I can definitely recommend the hotel.

Superior in every way!
We celebrated a birthday and several nights in Zermatt. The Hotel Alpenhof is an exceptional location to stay. Beautiful rooms, restaurant, bar, spa, etc. Beyond the walls - the staff is remarkable. They are aware and eager to make sure every aspect of your visit is perfect. I highly recommend.
Notes: We shared a family suite with porch views of the Matterhorn; ate breakfast each morning; enjoyed the sister restaurant at the Hotel Julien and the the cigar bar with Ali to cap off the birthday celebration.

This hotel was absolutely amazing, wish we could have stayed longer.
As our travel plans changed we could only stay one night. No one wanted to leave.
Arrived late so unfortunately didn’t get to use the pool as it had already closed.
But we did manage to have a very nice dinner.
Our room was huge with a lovely balcony.
Just loved all the little touches and sheep in the room. Very comfy bed.
Our breakfast was included and we all enjoyed this. One of our friends is coeliac and they were able to offer lots of gluten free options.
Would highly recommend staying at this hotel 10/10

Exceptional Hospitality at Hotel Alpenhof
Hotel Alpenhof made our stay in Zermatt absolutely wonderful. Even though we initially went to the Alpen, they immediately came to pick us up without hesitation, and from that moment on the service was exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely eager to help.
The location is perfect — just a 5–7 minute walk to town and the train station, making it easy to explore without feeling too close to the crowds. Our room was fantastic, with dual sinks, a comfortable sitting area, and a peaceful river view. And truly, don’t worry if you don’t have a Matterhorn view from your room; you’ll see that iconic peak plenty of times throughout your stay in Zermatt.
The only thing that surprised us was the “naked” spa area. We’re a bit more modest, so the full nudity caught us off guard and we didn’t fully take advantage of the steam room or sauna. But that’s a cultural preference, not a reflection on the hotel itself.
Overall, Alpenhof delivered comfort, kindness, and a great alpine atmosphere. We’d happily stay again.
