Ok hotel with good location
We got upper floor towards backyard, so it was peacefull, except on Sat because of pride. But staff informed about the noise so it was ok.
Furnitures are nice in room and in lobby area.
We got handicap room, so it got more space than normal rooms. We would like to have some place for our clothes and things. And we didn't liked about tablet which one you have to use to change lights or courtains also. Check in is also via tablet, but staff will help with it. Staff is very young but helpfull and kind.
Shower worked well and water bottles is available at bar free of charge. A small fridge and safety box plus hairdryer will be found in the room. Plastic carpet floor was disappoint for us. Good connection by walk or by tram for all directions.
Bed was good for sleep. Breakfast we didn't use.

Why — and Why Not — citizenM Zürich
We stayed at citizenM Zürich for a few days two weeks ago. When planning our trip to Zürich, I really struggled to choose between citizenM and Marriott/Renaissance located a little farther from the Old Town. It didn't help that the reviews for this hotel seemed to swing wildly from **"I love it"** to **"I hate it,"** with every possible opinion in between.
I hope this review can help others facing the same decision by addressing some of the areas most frequently mentioned in reviews. For context, we are a couple in our 50s. I am a Marriott Platinum member and normally stay at Marriott/Renaissance-level hotels when we travel. However, we are always willing to sacrifice some hotel features if the location is significantly better. With that background in mind, the short answer after staying here is: **yes, I felt that I made the right decision.**
## Is the room small?
Yes. The room is probably about half the size of the hotels we normally stay in.
Is the king bed placed against the wall, making it awkward for the person sleeping on the inside to get out of bed?
Yes.
However, in my opinion, it was **not nearly as unbearable as some reviews made it sound**.
## Is the hotel only for young people?
Not at all.
During our stay, I saw people of all age groups, including both tourists and business travelers. I would not worry about being "too old" for this hotel.
## Is check-in and check-out difficult?
Not at all.
The process looks unconventional because of the iPads and self-service setup, but staff members are right there to help if needed.
And speaking of the staff: **they were amazing and extremely helpful throughout our stay.**
## Are the lights, TV, and curtain controls confusing?
For me, no, but I can understand why some people are turned off by the technology.
Personally, I would put it in the category of: **"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."** This is technology that nobody asked for and that added no extra value than traditional light/TV switches.
Again, the controls can feel a little awkward at first, but in my opinion, they are **not nearly as unbearable as some reviews suggest**.
## Marriott Platinum benefits and breakfast
For Marriott Platinum members, there is **no complimentary breakfast**, although the hotel did honor the 4 PM late checkout.
If you are used to receiving free breakfast as a Marriott Platinum member, this is something to consider because breakfast can add a significant extra cost for two people.
There is also **no coffee maker or kettle in the room**. The hotel has a great bar, restaurant, and café area, but there is no complimentary coffee or even free hot water. This may sound like a small issue, but **coffee and tea can add up surprisingly quickly in Zürich**.
## The location
The location is **excellent** and just steps away from Zürich's Old Town. We could easily walk back to the hotel for a break and then head out again. After day trips, it was also extremely convenient to return to the city and immediately have restaurants, cafés, and evening walks nearby.
## So, should you stay here?
I think the decision primarily comes down to **location versus room size**.
You may not enjoy this hotel if:
* You strongly dislike technology.
* You need a large hotel room.
* Both people regularly need to get up multiple times during the night, because the bed arrangement could become annoying.
* You are a Marriott Platinum member who strongly values free breakfast, coffee, and other traditional hotel benefits.
For us, the smaller room and unconventional setup were worth it because the location was so much better for the type of trip we wanted.

Never stay here again
Extremely disappointing stay, especially for the price paid for Marriott experience. I stayed at this hotel for one night during a business trip to Zurich and unfortunately it was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had in Switzerland.The room had a persistent sour chemical smell, as if excessive cleaning products or other chemicals had been used. On top of that, the bed linen had an unpleasant odour from what seemed to be a very strong and unusual washing detergent. Instead of feeling clean and comfortable, the entire room felt unpleasant from the moment I entered.The room design was equally questionable. The bed appeared awkwardly squeezed between the window and the desk, creating a cramped and impractical layout that made the room uncomfortable to use.Considering the very high room rate, the overall product falls far below expectations. However, the biggest issue is the noise.Rooms facing the inner courtyard are exposed to a nearby nightclub that pumps heavy bass music late into the night. The low-frequency vibrations penetrate the room even with the windows closed, making sleep nearly impossible. What is even more frustrating is that there seems to be no effective solution. The hotel staff acknowledge the problem but cannot resolve it, and the disturbance apparently continues regardless.For a hotel charging Zurich prices, the absolute minimum expectation is a clean, comfortable room and a reasonable night's sleep. This property failed on both counts. I would strongly advise future guests to avoid any room facing the inner courtyard, or better yet, choose a different hotel altogether.

Good practical base in an excellent location -
Perfectly good base for exploring Zurich - great location. Pod style room with everything controlled by an iPad (note makes for a fun game to plunge mum into darkness whilst in the bathroom!!) bed was comfy, room and hotel clean, and the staff all very friendly and helpful. Air con was very loud! It made for an easy base as we weren’t in Zurich long - a bit too basic is we’d been staying longer. Would be good for a solo traveller - was cosy for 2.

My one night stay at the citizen M hotel was fine. It was approximately a 10 minute walk from the train station so the location was convenient. The room was not as cool as I wanted it to be, especially during a heat wave. They were able to accommodate me with a portable fan, although the fan was not very powerful. Note that there is no restaurant at the hotel, although there is a buffet breakfast that you can pay for. The hotel tries to be very high-tech with an iPad in the room, controlling lights, climate, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean.
