When checking in people, stay with the same person checking in rather than try to check in 3 or 4 people at the same time? Also maybe some better lighting on the stairs at night?
The rest of the staff couldn't have been any nicer. Very friendly on a daily basis. FReason I would stay again are for the workers.
As for the room itself, well, very outdated but for the cost, I guess this is what you get in the area. I thought would be nicer but again, get what you pay for.
The only other thing I would say is be in good shape as there is nothing but stairs. Flights and flkights of stairs the higher you go, the tougher it is.

Very bad experience – absolutely not recommended

We had a particularly negative experience staying here. Upon arrival we paid a deposit of 1000 THB, with a clear commitment that this amount would be refunded on departure. To our surprise, upon check-out, a deposit was denied. Despite the fact that we could show evidence, there was an aggressive and disrespectful response from the reception. In the end we did not get the deposit back.
Although it amounts to €25 to €30, this is a significant amount – especially in the local economy – and feels like pure deception and abuse of trust.
Furthermore, the hotel is absolutely not welcoming: you have to climb a lot of stairs to reach your room (which is very heavy in the heat) and there are fines and warnings everywhere. It feels more like a strict institution than a place to stay comfortably.
In short: think twice before booking a room here. We strongly recommend this stay.

We’ve had a good stay at the Uphill cottage hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, helpt with our luggage all the way up to our room. And also down again when we checked out👍Every day they gave us clean towels and water. The view was very nice untop, you could see the see from two sides. I would recommend this hotel, however, you have to be fit to climb the stairs to your room!

We enjoyed our stay at Uphill Cottage! The staff was super nice & views were amazing, plus it’s right next to the Phi Phi viewpoint & 5-10 minutes away from bars/restaurants.
If you’re coming to this island, you’re likely aware of the party atmosphere - the music did not stop until 3-4am!
The only other downside was Expedia listed an 8am check-in, but we could not get into our room until 2.
