Great hotel
A really great hotel at a really great price. Everything is new and modern. The staff is very accommodating and the hotel is in a very quiet area. Absolutely no traffic noise. I would stay at this hotel again anytime

Very good hotel
The staff are good and friendly and the rooms are comfy with a good view. The Restaurant is good and well priced, the breakfast was very disappointing, its a Thai affair but even the Thais with me said it was not tasty, the toast and fruit were ok. Outside there is a Thai BBQ at 139 bts a person and opposite that is another restaurant. Turn right towards town and 80m are 2 more restaurants. Town is a fair walk. Be aware the tv channels are all Thai, there is no other Language.

New, clean, reasonable
This is a newly built hotel on the edge of town. It is very clean, rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is extensive and good quality. Parking is convenient. Phetchabun City is relatively small (no airline or train service) so getting around is easy.

Need your own transport to stay here
This is a nice, clean hotel but as a solo traveller without my own transport I found it too isolated. It’s a walk of about 750m with no shade to the main road.
The hotel looks almost new and is quite stylish, with a good buffet breakfast included.My room had a lovely view over ricefields with mountains in the distance, and a safe, bar fridge, good air conditioning and lighting, and a kettle with tea and coffee. The free wifi did not work very well, and the flat screen TV did not have any foreign language news channels. The bed was a bit too firm for my liking, but it was quiet at night.
The strangest thing about this hotel was the configuration of the bathroom. There was no soap at the hand basin, so I had to get the dreaded liquid soap from the shower by standing on the raised edge of the shower recess, then turn around while standing on the edge to wash my hands.
There are few taxis in town, and you have to ask the hotel to call one. The usual waiting time was about 10 minutes, and the fare to most places in town is B60-70; all the taxis I used had meters, but none of them worked.I went to the Big C Centre and had to wait 30 minutes for a taxi back to the hotel, so it’s best to ask the taxi to wait while you do your shopping.
The most interesting part of town is the old town along the river, and it would be easy to miss this area as it’s off the main roads.
I stayed here mainly to visit Khao Kho; it was a bit hard to find out how to get there, but the staff at the main bus station were very helpful and directed me to municipal market no. 2 (talaat tessaban 2), near the SR supermarket. I caught a red songthaew at 9am for B60, then hired it for another B600 to get around Khao Kho as there is no other transport available. I was the only passenger, and this run is mainly to deliver supplies to restaurants and guest houses. I spent a pleasant 2 hours visiting the Weaponry Museum and monument, royal palace, a waterfall and strawberry fields.
If you go to Khao Kho like I did just as a day trip, you need to make sure you can get back to Phetchabun the same day, and the only way to do this is to hire the same songthaew. There was another songthaew parked at tessaban 2 that morning, but no sign of any activity.

The Potential Is There
This is 0.5 miles (750m) from the main road so a long walk to the centre of the town, though there is not much there.
The check-in was a bit slow with lots of bits of paper checking and computer screens being looked at when our names were on a piece of paper on the desk.
The rooms are a decent size and everything works. I never got actual hot water but didn't want it anyway.
I wish hotels everywhere would obey their own rules. When I hang my towel up I don't want it changing, as per their request, but they always still change it.
The first night got the stay off to a bad start when they had a concert on by the swimming pool.
A woman was shouting very loudly from about 8pm to 10pm but then things got worse with a very loud bandy playing till nearly midnight. Nobody would have slept till they finished so anyone with kids needs to check this out before booking.
The music should really be 8pm to 10pm.
Breakfast was nicely set out but mostly basic Asian food though there is a chance it was probably warm at some time earlier.
The jar coffee was very bitter and it wasn't all the time they had real milk for tea and coffee.
The lunch we had by the pool wasn't very good food but "The Room" and "Zumtum" just up the road had very good food indeed though you really need a Thai speaker to chance the Zumtum as I was warned off 1 or 2 of the harmless sounding dishes from their own English translations.
The pool bar has a decent wine for 450 baht and 1 or 2 imported beers.
The wifi worked well.
