Awful - do not stay here

Absolutely awful stay at Coconut grove hotel. The hotel was very run down, we couldn’t use the pool as it was filthy. We only stayed here one night to watch the World Cup final at a local bar on the main strip but I wouldn’t even recommend one night at this place. The room was very average, TV was broken and there were dark black stains on the bed sheets. A smell of cigarette smoke was present not only in our room but also across the whole hotel. We booked this with the knowledge that it was close to the main strip and could be noisy. But, the noise was absolutely crazy - we could hear absolutely everything which continued throughout the night meaning that we barely slept.
However, the worst part about this hotel was the lock for our room door. We went out late in the night to watch the game and despite numerous attempts, we could not lock the door to our room. We were trying for over 30 minutes to do this. There weren’t any staff at reception at this time and due to a number of valuables in our possession we could not safely go out to watch the football due to the door not being locked. This was incredibly disappointing as this was the primary reason for our stay to be close to the bars but we couldn’t leave the room. We hoped we could watch it on the TV instead but it was as broken.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We paid £18 for one night and whilst this was cheap, you could not persuade me to stay again even if it were free.

First visit to Koh Samui

Great location for bars and beach. Great beach club right next door. Staff very friendly. Basic rooms and I mean very basic. Cracked sinks and toilets not particularly clean. If travelling with suitcases there is no lift and there is three floors so if booking here and you struggle ask for a low floor.

Noisy As Hell

The area in general, chaweng beach, is pretty seedy.
Location for this hotel is central, but so so so incredibly loud. We had to blast music in our room and wear ear plugs to drown out the music and noise from the strip, goes all night and is so loud in the room.
Bathroom smelled so bad.
