Thai (and other) cuisine with your feet in the sand
I only tried the restaurant. My rating, therefore, refers to that and not to the resort, which I do not know.
Small and charming, furnished with style while respecting the mood of the bay, this restaurant offers Thai cuisine and international dishes at reasonable prices and with the possibility of eating (lunch and dinner) with your feet in the sand. Everything we ordered was very good (perhaps the spring rolls were a bit greasy. But overall not bad).
Prices are standard for the area. The only downside: although they do not kick you out of your table, this restaurant (like all those in the bay) also closes around 9. Reservations are not necessary, even if the place is often full (especially at lunch).

We stayed at Poseidon Resort for 10 days and loved it. I was late to contact them about pick up from the pier so was entirely our fault to have to take a taxi , if you contact them.in advance they will come and get you. One of the brothers had been waiting for us at the resort for our late arrival and checked us in. We had a lovely bungalow, not too far from the beach. Air-con, fan, comfy bed, even a fridge , a spacious bathroom with shower that had hot water as well , and a balcony with a hammock. All very clean. The restaurant has inside and outside seating areas, great choices for breakfast and lunch or early dinner. It closes at 5pm so a bit too early for dinner for us but we just went to the place next door. They catered amazingly for our dietary requirements (we are both vegan) , even had a choice of plant based milks. Loved the pineapple and cashew nut dish which is served in half a pineapple! We were initially a bit upset to see some small cages hanging in the restaurant area but it turned out that they are looking after and nursing some of the injured and orphaned squirrels of the island! They actually have some feeding stations out for the squirrels and you can see them really close up. They also have a filtered water refill tank so you dont have to buy a new bottle each time which reduces the plastic pollution. The staff and owners were super friendly and we felt very welcome and they helped us whenever we needed anything. Loved it there!

Paradise resort on a paradise island
We stayed at Poseidon Resort for 10 days and loved it. We arranged transport several times which was much cheaper than the prices you get quoted at the pier. The beach and bay was amazing as usual (my 4th time at Ao Tanote) though there are quite a lot of day visitors who seem to come mainly to jump of the rock and don't care about the corals and environment, stepping on corals, leaving their rubbish. I spoke to the lady from Poseidon and she said that especially the litter has become a big problem. Hopefully they and the other resort owners at Poseidon will make Ao Tanote a private beach with entrance fee for non-residents so some of those idiots are kept out and staff can be employed to clean up the beach each day. As wildlife freaks we had the time of our life, amazing fish, even a turtle and octopus in the bay, on land lots of geckos including a house Tokay, lots of frogs and toads along the steep road up to the main road, lots of squirrels, a few birds, and - very lucky that one of the trees had ripe fruit - fruit bats that were just a few meters above us in the evening.
Not gonna be the last time we come to Koh Tao and we will book Poseidon again next time!

Clean room, comftable bed and good location very close to the beach. Just be aware that the bungalow is in nature, so a few animals like ants will find their way into the room!
