The warmest recommendation for Moshi, Tanzania! ✨

If you are planning a trip to Tanzania (whether it’s to climb Kilimanjaro, go on a safari, or do some volunteering), I just want to share an absolutely amazing place in Moshi, run by the most warm-hearted local woman, Welly.
Hostel Kiliwood is beautifully located in a quiet area (Rau) with a view of the mountain. It has a great vibe, top-notch WiFi, hot showers, and a lovely garden with a campfire where it’s super easy to meet other travelers.
The best part is that, besides running the hostel, she also organizes very fair and reliable safaris, day trips (Materuni, Chemka Hot Springs, etc.), and even runs her own local NGO/volunteer organization. When you stay there or book a tour, your money goes directly towards supporting her projects in the local community, rather than a big foreign travel agency.

Best place in Moshi

Kiliwoods Hostel is an absolute gem in Moshi. The host, Welima, is simply incredible welcoming, warm, and genuinely caring. Staying here truly feels like being at home. We had fascinating and meaningful conversations, and she goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels comfortable.
The hostel itself is a cozy home, with a lovely green courtyard and garden where you can relax peacefully. Its location is perfect: slightly away from the noise of the city, yet very easy to reach by tuktuk (about 700 TZS). From here, access to the stunning Materuni Waterfall is super convenient.
There’s also the opportunity to visit the orphanage supported by Welima local community organization Worthy of Hope Tanzania, which is a beautiful and impactful experience. Amazing!

It’s a wonderful place with a beautiful garden and a very kind and helpful host! We had a great time here. The breakfast was delicious, and there were even free snacks and drinking water available. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby.

Great location. Great host. Value for money. Highly recommended.

Excellent location if you are going for the Kilimanjaro Marathon. Also well served by Tuk-Tuks from the nearby shops at Rau.
The host is excellent and passionate about the work. She goes over and above her call of duty. Very helpful.
The breakfast spread is generous and caters for multiple tastes.

My first hostel experience

I was recommended to by my friend and colleague and all my expectations were met. Nice clean and colorful rooms, comfy matress and great food. Relaxed and secure compound that you can chill whole day reading your favorite book. Worth every penny.
