Wonderful staff and a good cause

I had a wonderful stay as part of a medical service trip I participated in. The food is fresh and incredibly tasty. We felt welcomed by the staff, and taken good care of by the drivers and tour guides.

Treat You Like Family

I stayed here the night before a Kilimanjaro trip with G Adventures - the staff at the hotel are exceptional an couldn’t be more welcoming - The rooms were comfortable , the water hot and the food delicious - what more could you want from a place to stay before and even more importantly after the experience of hiking Kilimanjaro - highly recommend

Outstanding, 10/10, A home away from home.

The Stella Maris, time and time again, is outstanding! From the welcoming and attentive staff to the location and back to the safe and clean atmosphere, I will absolutely be back. To know that the funds they have from the lodge goes back to the community and local artists also gives me hope and peace that this lodge will continue to do good things for the world!

The Stella Maris Lodge is a Gem! I highly recommend this hotel!

The people here are simply fantastic! They cater to your every need with grace and a smile and very promptly. The rooms are beautiful and the food is amazing! You can watch monkeys playing in the courtyard in the morning. The hotel picked me up from the airport and suggested a few guided tours that I loved. My favorite was to the waterfall. I was there to climb Kilimanjaro and the day I left the entire staff stood outside and wished me luck, gave me hugs and a thumbs up! They also all came out to greet me when I arrived back to the lodge after summiting. I had 7 days of dirty laundry and was leaving early the next morning however, they got my clothes washed and returned to me before I left for my safari! The Stella Maris has plugs that work on American electronics which is super helpful! I left my passport and money with the hotel while I was climbing and they documented everything, wrapped my valuables in paper and taped it shut with packaging tape, logged everything in a ledger and put it in the safe. Everything was exactly as it had been when I returned. I preferred a room in the back which does not have a view of Kilimanjaro however it's quieter due to there being a train and the main road on the front side of the hotel. Although the hotel sits quite aways back from the road and train track, I found the back rooms nicer and quieter but that's a personal choice.

Lovely family friendly hotel

As mentioned in other reviews, the staff at Stella Maris are so welcoming from the greeetings and hugs on arrival to checking in every day to make sure we were ok for everything. Every morning, Teddy (a very special lady) who manages the hotel, had a special welcome for all of her guests. All of the staff are phenomenal - so kind and friendly.
The food is top notch and quite cheap compared to Irish standards!!
Bedrooms are lovely and have everything you need.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel - you will enjoy your stay here.
