Maru Maru is a great hotel blending modern convenience with a touch of old swahili design
Loved it. The rooms were clean and modern with a touch of old swahili style. The staff were friendly and the meals great. The restaurant has great views. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I highly recommend this hotel

Best boutique hotel in Stonetown, Zanzibar!
This is my favourite hotel to stay when visiting Zanzibar.
Centrally located, very well maintained, well appointed rooms, nice bathroom, and nice swimming pool on the rooftop to relax.
The front desk staff and cleaning staff are both amazing and very friendly.

Our trip started off a little frustrating with the transfers from the hotel making us wait about an hour for someone to pick us up but as soon as the driver fetched us, he turned that frustrated feeling around. He was so friendly and polite.
All around a great experience - staff was friendly and helpful, Rooms were clean.
Overall: 10/10

Great Location, Terrible soundproof rooms.
The rooms are spacious. Rooftop has a bar that has music in the evenings, rooms are most deffinately not sound proof. Ask reception to please ask late night check-ins to be more considerate to the other guests. We were woken at 6am with contract workers grinding in building. Breakfast was average. Great location though. Checked out 1 night earlier.

We sincerely apologize for the disturbance caused by noise during your stay. We understand how important a peaceful and restful environment is, particularly when travelling as a couple.
Regarding the music from our rooftop, our Terrace Restaurant & Lounge operates in the evenings and occasionally features live entertainment. We appreciate that this can be enjoyable for some guests while being disruptive to others, especially those who prefer an early night. We do our best to manage the sound levels and, where possible, allocate rooms in quieter areas of the hotel to guests who request a peaceful location. We also have different hotel blocks, which allows our reception team to consider such requests when assigning rooms.
We are particularly concerned to hear that you were woken at around 6:00 AM by grinding and construction-related work. Please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience. This type of early-morning disturbance is certainly not the experience we want our guests to have. We will review the timing and coordination of any maintenance or contractor work to ensure that such activities do not unnecessarily disturb guests, particularly during early morning hours.
We also take note of your comments regarding soundproofing. As a historic property in the heart of Stone Town, our building has its own architectural characteristics and limitations, but we recognize that guest comfort and adequate noise control are very important. Your feedback will be shared with our management and maintenance teams as we continue looking at ways to improve the acoustic comfort of our rooms.
We are also sorry that you found the breakfast only average. Our breakfast selection is designed to offer a combination of continental, local and freshly prepared options, and we will certainly share your comments with our food and beverage team as an opportunity to review both the selection and overall guest experience.
We regret that the combination of these issues affected your stay to the extent that you decided to leave one night earlier. We would have appreciated the opportunity to address your concerns more fully while you were still with us, as our reception and management teams are always available to assist guests with room changes or other reasonable solutions whenever possible.
