Great location in the center of Stone Town. Of impeccable cleanliness! The staff and the boss of an extraordinary kindness
Everything is within walking distance from the hotel; the port, the beach, the small streets of the center.

Faded glory at the heart of the city

Good location in Stone Town but rooms are small and stuffy. Air conditioning didn't work. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bed was not comfortable

Highly recommended

We landed there during the internet shutdown, at the end of October, as our flight was cancelled. The hotel manager was very helpful, the rooms very clean. We felt very comfortable, despite the situation. We recommend the hotel gladly.

At best - a hostel with individual rooms. In dire need for refurbishment, or a deep clean!

To begin with, this is not a place I would typically stay at. But as it was the weekend of a major music festival, I was out of options!
The guest house location is closed to stone town, it's quite difficult to find as it's situated within a maze of alleyways. My taxi driver did not know where it was, and I was unable to contact the property as the listed phone number was out of order. We finally found it after asking the locals.
The room was bare - and only superficially cleaned. The towels smelled musty, and there was dust that had caked in everywhere. It just felt unclean, and in need for major refurbishment. There was no safety deposit box in the room. Any valuable belongings must be given to the reception for safekeeping - which I was not comfortable with.
The receptionist was quite standoffish, and not welcoming at all. To top it all, I could not get a good night's sleep as there was so much noise from the neighbouring buildings and other residents.
