Happy
We had a wonderful week. The host was adorable, attentive, helpful in every way. The location is close to Galata, the metro, İstiklal street. Everything was perfect! I advise without hesitation

The impression is depressing.
The description of the hotel in the public does not correspond to the reality from the number of bedroom revenges to the interior. The room was in a terrible state - dirty, all dilapidated... The floors haven't been washed long enough, the tiles are scary to touch, the mirror just stood on the floor.... The extra bed was broken, the laundry dryer was broken, everything was literally on snot.... Checked out without waiting for the booked deadline to end... A request for a refund for the remaining time was denied... Apparently the owners think their terms are worth the travelers' money... Well, good luck to them...

Disappointing.
We were two single friends staying 4 nights in flat 6 which is the top apartment with sea view.
Galata Homes is great for exploring the Beyoğlu area. Galata Tower is a 2 minute walk round the corner and the buzzing bar and restaurant district just off Istiklal Caddesi is just a 5 minute walk up hill. Even the beautiful Sultanahmet old city with all its stunning tourist attractions is within walking distance. Taxis are also very reasonable.
Ultimately we chose Galata Homes based on the fantastic reviews but unfortunately our experience seemed to be different to that of most of the reviewers. Despite booking the room through booking.com and after several email correspondences our apartment was not ready when we arrived. Instead we were put up in an inferior room for the night at Hotel Duo. It was left to us to haggle over the price as initially we were expected to pay the same amount on this cramped room as we were on a spacious apartment with roof terrace and sea views.
The apartment was ready for us the next day but not until 2pm which meant this cut into our day significantly and limited us to what we could do.
The apartment was spacious, bright and comfortable, accessed via stairs, (it's the top floor) there is no lift. The down side was that there was a strong smell of damp and the walls in the living room were stained (see picture). The floor boards in the corner of the room were rotting and I wouldn't have recommended standing on them for fear of falling through. The kitchen was not well equipt and what was there could have done with a wash.
The bedroom was comfortable, tidy and clean as was the bathroom.
The terrace was great. It was really big with views over the roof tops of Beyoğlu with Bosporous views at the front and sea views at the back. A great place for evening drinks. There was outdoor furniture which judging by the dirt looked like it hadn't been used in some time and could have been wiped down before we arrived.
Similar to other reviews we found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful and eventually we did secure a discount but this was something we had to ask for.
If you decide to stay at Galata Homes my advise is to ring them the day before you arrive. Check the room is ready and if you have booked a transfer check this too as ours was not at the airport when we arrived.
Istanbul is an amazing ore inspiring city with so much to see and do, day and night. Galata Homes could have done better.

Great Location... Wonderful Stuff...
Located in the center of Istanbul in the beautiful area of the Galata Tower and Istiklal Cad... Walking distance to most of the touristic sides...We were welcomed very friendly by the owners and Mrs Nurhan...She was there for us anytime we needed something ( extra bedding etc)and made us feel very much home... Turkish hospitality on its best... The apartments are specious and testeful decorated...we will come back again for sure but next time we want to stay at App No 6 with the big terrace and great see view...
Nothing about the Galata Homes to complain ...
Unfortunately there was a construction side on the street while we where there... But they were almost finished by the end of our stay... I'm sure the street and the neighbourhood will look even nicer when we come back again...

Nice weekend
The location is perfect, close to many attractive places. Thé rooms are cosy,well decoration and clean. I had a nice weekend. The owner is very friendly, He tries to help about places to visit or enjoy etc.I strongly Recommend everyone to stay here.
