Exceptional Hospitality
The Cookie Jar is, without a doubt, one of my top 10 favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed in.
From the moment we walked through the door, we were warmly welcomed by John, and that level of hospitality continued throughout our entire stay.
We stayed in The Chapel, and it was spectacular in every sense of the word. Once an actual chapel, it has been beautifully converted into a guest room while retaining many of its original architectural elements and character. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with just about everything we could possibly need. Little touches made it even more special—a jar of cookies waiting for us and bottles of water placed on each side of the bed every evening.
I especially have to gloat about Lynn, the manager. What a charming, friendly, helpful, genuinely wonderful lady! She went out of her way to help us every step of the way, from arranging a car to take us to the train station to even helping us out with a wee bit of laundry. Nothing ever seemed like too much trouble, and her warmth and kindness made our stay that much more memorable.
The grounds are absolutely adorable, and the Bistro was another wonderful surprise. The food was genuinely delicious and felt like a little hidden gem in its own right.
What really sets The Cookie Jar apart is the attention to detail and exceptional hospitality. There are plenty of beautiful hotels, but it’s the people and all those thoughtful little touches that turn a stay into something you remember.
Overall, an absolutely fantastic experience. The hospitality was over-the-top wonderful, and I would return in a heartbeat.

Amazing from start to finish. Check in quick and was then shown the rest area, the breakfast room, where to get milk and then shown to my room and shown all the amenities. Very helpful with my questions about parking.Every staff member was so helpful. The lady on the evening in the bar was wonderful when I couldn’t decide what wine to have. And the lady in the breakfast room couldn’t do enough. The umbrellas in the room were a godsend on the evening when it was raining. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as a place to stay and I cannot wait to return ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Perfect hotel for a stay in Alnwick
What a lovely place to stay this was. We visited Alnwick for two nights and loved it here. The castle is on the same street so location is perfect as you can walk to the castle and the gardens. Lots of shops and pubs/restaurants also within walking distance. Dirty bottles does great food and wine and has a relaxed atmosphere. The service in the hotel was excellent. Really friendly staff and the food was amazing. Breakfast was delicious. We also had a meal in the bistro. Best fish and chips I think I’ve ever had and really good value for money. You also get cookies in your room which I thought was a nice touch. The hotel is also super quiet at night. No street noise or any noise really. Could not fault this hotel and would definitely recommend.
