A afternoon tea of delight
The food was absolutely wonderful, beautifully presented, fresh, and full of flavour. I also really appreciated how accommodating the team were with dietary requirements and a couple of changes I requested. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and every request was handled with genuine kindness and professionalism.
What truly made this experience stand out, however, was the staff.
One of the most refreshing things about our visit was seeing such a diverse team who clearly have genuine respect and care for one another. It didn't feel forced or simply professional courtesy between colleagues; there was a warmth, friendship, and authentic kindness that was obvious throughout our visit. That positive atmosphere naturally extended to the guests and made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming.
Before arriving, I admittedly expected somewhere as elegant and stylish as Malmaison to feel a little formal or intimidating. Instead, we were met with warmth, humour, and some of the friendliest hospitality I've experienced in a long time. The team were attentive without being intrusive, professional without being stiff, and they genuinely seemed happy to be there and happy to make our afternoon special. They made us laugh, feel comfortable, and ensured we had a fantastic time from start to finish.
A special thank you goes to Adrian, Imogen, Bismark, and Rowena.
Each of them played a part in making our visit memorable. Their friendliness, attentiveness, and genuine care transformed what would already have been a lovely afternoon tea into a truly special experience.
The afternoon tea itself was excellent, but it was the people who made it unforgettable.
We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend Malmaison Birmingham to anyone looking not only for great food and a beautiful setting, but also for hospitality that comes from the heart.

Only complaint is the room air-conditioning is centrally controlled and it was hard to get the air in the room right.
Apart from that it's 10 out of 10.
