Small, grubby and dated
We were really disappointed with our room at The Gather Inn. It was tiny, stuffy and grubby. Something running down the wall, worn down carpets, which they've attempted to cover with a rug. Bedding was stained, bathroom tiny, with a small grubby shower. Hot tap at sink was scorching hot, with the cold tap running hot! The rooms need completely redone. And to top it all off, an alarm went off in the morning, so we were all hanging around outside with no staff working (it's not staffed 24hrs). Had to phone the number they give you, to get someone along to switch it off.
Staff we dealt with were lovely! Couldn't fault them! Just such a shame about the rooms.

Lowest local price for a reason
Very clean bed linen. Grubby stained carpets throughout the hotel. Very noisy traffic until the small hours. Needs a thorough makeover

Not good value for money at all, needs a makeover
Sorry to say that while the staff were very friendly and helpful, the Inn was in serious need of some attention. Looking at some of the reviews now after visiting I see that many of the comments made in 2025 are still valid a year and a half later. I was expecting a great deal more for my money, and calling the room that we stayed in a family room was quite a stretch, yes there were the requisite number of beds but no room for anything else. Would have been better booking two rooms at a travel lodge which would have been about the same cost. Felt sorry for the staff

Very disappointing
We arrived at the hotel late Sunday afternoon after a long drive, to find the restaurant already closed and the bar due to finish at 8pm also. Your website completely fails to mention this is a ‘room only’ hotel and we discovered there is no food at all during the week!
The photos you use in your advertising present the hotel in a good light , however the reality is that it’s on a busy main road , next to a working dockyard.
On a positive note, the rooms are comfortable and clean, however my shower had patches of black mould on the tiles, and the carpet in the hallway and stairs was absolutely filthy .
Overall really quite disappointed with our stay, as there is very little to offer in the area - apart from takeaways, so we ended up getting an Uber into Brighton.

10/10 for effort 6/10 for the rest
This pub is very dated and needs a refurb, we took advantage of the half price roast they were offering on a soft launch, staff lovely on arrival, we went for 1 pork , I chicken, I beef and 1 veggie, pork was sliced loin , prefer belly but it was nice, crackling to hard to eat, potatoes were typical pub potatoes, nice but a few hard ones and not crispy, veg was nice, cauliflower cheese had mustard in which was quite strong, pigs lovely, 3 friend thoroughly enjoyed theirs , all in all a nice roast, but wouldn’t rush back , ladies toilet is in desperate need of a refurb, outdated and please get a new bin!!!

After this time, self check-in can be arranged; however, you must contact us before 10:00 PM to make these arrangements. Any items left in the room after departure will be retained for 7 days. If they are not collected within this period, they will be disposed of.
