It's an old hotel, but its clean, tidy and the staff are great. Rooms vary, some are bigger than others. Location couldn't be any better for the centre of Carlisle.
On this occasion we were on the fourth floor which does require some stair climbing (there is one lift, it holds four people and is usually occupied by confused old people), rooms are a little smaller on that floor, although the bathroom was huge. Water pressure wasn't fantastic but was okay for a couple of night stay. Last time I stayed on the third floor and the room was a little bigger and althought the bathroom was smaller, no issues with water pressure.
Bar is great, not expensive and the bar food is good quality fresh food (didn't try the restaurant).
Parking is free, but is limited - you're probably okay arriving before 5PM weekdays, but weekends is busier - there is an underground pay car park literally 300 yards away, so no big deal if you can't get in.

Dated hotel but our room had had a slight refresh. Lovely and clean bathrooms and nice new carpet and beds. Breakfast was nice.
Now for the bad - the pool, jacuzzi and changing rooms are a disgrace and need condemning, deep clean and starting again. The smell in the changing room was awful, mould all over the back of the toilet door and ceiling. The pool itself was milky and had dirt on floor. The tiles were green, the grout was slimy and had brown mildew growing. The jacuzzi had grey water and lots of bits. I dipped my toes in both and left.
We booked this hotel over the Ibis for the leisure facilities. A big mistake

2nd time here .Came this weekend with a friend .Can't fault the staff really friendly and professional and helpful. Food was good had no issues. Went in the pool no issues with the it. I cant say anything negative about my stay here this weekend and that's good for me because I can be very critical.

The room and facilities were ok. Nice meal in the restaurant. The breakfast was good value for money. The staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you especially the catering staff.

Good stay in Carlisle, friendly and helpful staff. Got us off on our Hadrian’s Wall walk with useful information and answered all our questions and concerns. Pool and spa were very nice after 15 miles walking. Breakfast was top notch and they staff were very kind and gracious.Would stay again.
