Modern and clean with lovely design details in a quiet and picturesque canal side location. Staff were great, food and drink available on site and easy access to town centre along the canal. Loved our visit would definitely stay again.

Good location
The only issue I had was out check in, my wife booked the room for my birthday and the people checking us in seemed, to put it nicely "close" he was trying to check us in and she was pretty much attached to his arm, it made a us uncomfortable.
But the room itself was brilliant! Had everything we needed and in a fantastic location, we were given a cafe recommendation from the barman that evening

Professional staff, clean hotel. The room was freezing on arrival and took 12hrs after turning off the aircon to reach a comfortable temperature.
Good location close to city centre but the pedestrian underground passage to access the city is not great and wouldn't enter alone.

Well located
The Post Code to get to the hotel is incorrect on their website, as it directs you to the rear of the property which is on the canal. The code to use is the one for Waitrose (CH3 5AF), which is next door, and that is where the car park is (if you are driving).
Checkin was quite 'challenging' as the Receptionist, who also acts as Bar staff, was extremely busy and failed to inform us of the parking or allowed us check the car in, after we had done a u-turn and found our way to the car park. The website states that there are a limited number of car park spaces, allocated on a first come, first served basis. When we wanted to register our car, we were told that the parking was for the Gym next door. We were then advised to use a QR code and download an App., when all the time the screens to log parking were visible on the desk. As a Gold member, I am fully aware of how the parking works when checking in to a Marriott hotel. Finally another Receiptionist came to our aid and checked the car in. We also had to enquire with him about Breakfast, as we had not been able to book it via the Bonvoy App and the Receptionish who checked us in failed to mention Breakfast - very unprofessional. After a very long, slow journey this kind of welcome was not appreciated. The lady in question was obviously having a bad day, but she didn't need to take it our on us, her guests!
Our room. which overlooked the canal, was fine; perfectly clean and comfortable with a small but well equiped bathroom with a walk-in shower. There were toileteries and tea/coffee making facilities. plus air conditioning. Hanging and other storage space is very limited.
Breakfast is available, though is didn't appear to be of the standard of other Marriott Hotel brands. We were told is was a continental breakfast, but there was cooked food. We know this because you have to walk past it when you exit from the lift!
You can exit the rear of the hotel onto the Canal, and walk into the centre of Chester in about 10 minutes. Enroute, there are a selection of pubs and restaurants, so the location is good.
The stay was fine, but by choice, we prefer Delta/AC/J W Marriott.

Nice and friendly, super modern hotel.
Nice comfy beds, staff were super friendly. Breakfast was good if a tad pricey. Great location by the canal, nice walk into town via some nice pubs and restaurants. No noise from other rooms which was fab, one downside is lack of storage in bathroom and bedroom. Great for a stop over. I would stay again.
