Our ‘not so local, local!’

The Shears Inn is surrounded by the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. We had a pleasant stay here. The room was comfortable, overlooking the rolling hills. A good selection of books are available should you wish to unwind in literature. Dinner was delicious (venison burger is the best we’ve tasted). We also had the Sunday Roast, also delicious and a hearty serving. The staff are welcoming and the locals are friendly. Paddy, the owners’ dog, likes a fuss and was lovely with our pooch. We would recommend.

Will stay again.

Nigel very welcoming, showed us to our room, it was a hot day and they had opened the window, to get air and a breeze in. We had the family room, to look out the window and see fields, just so peaceful and relaxing. Used the beer garden, lot’s of tables and very relaxing. We had to leave early in the morning, so not sure what breakfast is like but did have dinner. Not your usual pub grub, I had the special’s Salmon Fillet, beautifully cooked, very well presented, melted in the mouth. My husband had Ham, Egg & Chips, Yorkshire Ham, which he really enjoyed. Also, shared bread and oil for starter, melt in your mouth bread. We were looked after my Nigel’s wife Beck, both know how to look after their guest’s. Paddy the dog, you must meet. Very near Thruxton Race Circuit, so a great place to stay.

You can tell that the kitchen is Michelin trained - every dish was great.

Nigel, Bec & Paddy the dog! made us feel SO welcome this weekend - this is a perfect stop for foodies … great food ( which is incredible value for money ) & fab wine list too !
Rooms are clean & the flexible “no rush check out” was a nice touch.
Breakfast is light ( which suited us this weekend )
Great place for a change of scenery in the sunshine to relax with our friends & to unplug from lthe phone - the the signal is terrible - which is great ! but there is fab WiFi when you need it.
You can tell that the kitchen is Michelin trained - every dish was great.
[ NOTE to the Brewery who own The Shears … this is a jem of a place , run by great people … just invest a bit of money into the building & the plumbing ( it is a bit noisy ) and it will be incredible ]

Lovely country pub and great food

Stumbled on this pub by accident while out for a ride on my motorbike. I needed lunch and thought it looked nice so I stopped in. Lovely property and friendly greeting from the landlord. I had the burger which was delicious. Just goes to show that you don’t need to look for McDonalds, just stop and support a local pub. Will be coming here again with my wife to sample more of the food, hospitality and lovely location.

Brilliant little place

What a super little place. We were welcomed like old friends and made so welcome. Brilliant fun watching the rugby with some of the locals and enjoyed a lovely two course dinner with many many glasses of wine
Wish we lived closer.
Bex and Nigel were awesome as was paddy the dog. Thank you for a fun night
