Great stay

Communication prior to arrival was great, and check in was smooth. The room was a great size with necessary amenities and 2 huge radiators- loved this as it was winter. I didn't order any food but the menu looked good and very reasonably priced. He atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. There's a bus stop right outside and it's right in town. Sleep quality was 10
Will definitely stay here again.

Last minute Sunday lunch

Last minute decision. In Durham for the armistice ceremony, with dog. Booked on line. Turned up a little early, but the girls couldn't have been more accommodating. Sunday Lunch. Enormous portions, but with lots of vegetables. Ten out of ten. Parsnips, carrots, swede, green beans. Cooked to perfection.
Prices in context that nowhere is cheap anymore, very reasonable.
I will return.
Amazed that it wasn't much busier.

Fabulous

Stayed here for 1 night last week. What a beautiful place. From the front door to the back it's decor is amazing. Staff were lovely & very friendly & helpful. The bedroom was perfect & spotless. We had breakfast the following morning & it was fabulous . All in all a lovely experience & would stay again .

Great Cottage Pie

The Beef and Ale Cottage Pie is absolutely outstanding. Well worth a diversion for. We also liked the friendly attentive service, the real ales and the traditional nature of the place.

Disappointing 24 hours

I only stayed one night & I am so glad it was just the one night. You walk into the restaurant & it gives you such high hopes for the rooms but it's like night & day. The rooms are tired & out dated. The bathrooms look dirty, I didn't dare shower there. The smell of the room was like a air freshener bomb went off, just made me think of what are they hiding? The staff are also not great, found every interaction extremely awkward, like pulling teeth. I worked in hotels & it really isn't hard to understand guest needs before they tell you what they are. When someone arrives with cases, it's clear they are looking to check in or if I walk passed you looking lost with a key the next morning I am clearly checking out. All in all a very strange & disappointing 24 hours.
