City break

We stayed here between 17-20 may. Good customer service on arrival and was checked in in no time. Booked a superior double room and wasn’t disappointed. Not the biggest but was spotlessly clean and nice comfy bed. Hotel is just off the royal mile so ideal location and everything is within walking distance. Only downside to our stay was the fire alarm going off at 4.20am one morning. When rang down to reception was told ‘ it’s ok it happens sometimes’. This wouldn’t put me off staying here again though. We’ve had a fab couple of days so Thankyou

It is also wonderful to know that your superior double room met your expectations, with cleanliness and comfort contributing positively to your stay. We are pleased as well that you found our location convenient for exploring the city. We are, however, sorry for the disturbance caused by the fire alarm during the early hours of the morning and for the way this was communicated when you contacted reception. While safety procedures are of course taken very seriously, we understand how disruptive this must have been, and your comments regarding the response have been noted and will be reviewed with the team to ensure a more considerate approach in such situations.

Compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at at the same price (£419- for 1 night) - this hotel was significantly less captivating. Some members of the team were helpful, others weren’t. Front of house staff had no smiles on their faces when interacting with guests. It cost nothing to put on a smile. I was checked out by a member of staff who was on her private phone until she had to be beckoned by a superior staff to see to me. I am trying to leave constructive feedback, as someone who also deals with customers in my line of work.

Fridge in room did not work and maintenance taking place at hotel during stay which included banging. Hotel very blasé around fridge not working. TV also problematic - eventually got batteries replaced in remote. Pleasant room, nice view but lacked attention to detail - tea /milk not replenished one day so had to phone reception. Stayed during fringe so expensive and busy. Very good location but needs improvement all round to be considered good.

We took a red eye to Edinburgh and prepaid for a night at the hotel so that we’d have a spot to rest early morning when we landed. We arrived to the hotel and were told that our room was given away because we were a “no show”. There was no mention at booking that we needed to let them know we’d be arriving late so they would keep the room.

Castle grounds and Castle are absolutely beautiful, rooms and bathrooms spacious and clean. But the staff went above and beyond to provide services. They were amazing! Highly recommend!!
