A beautiful hotel with a catering unit issue!
A beautiful hotel in an absolutely stunning location, the room was spotless and and spacious with a very nice ensuite bathroom with rainfall shower and extremely comfortable bath. The food was of a very high standard and the staff very friendly and helpful. There is no lift to the upper floors but you are pre-warned if this during booking and we didn't find it a problem. The wifi is good despite the hotel also pre-warning that it's not the best, my phone did warn me of low security however. We didn't find this a problem. The price of drinks was quite expensive however and the addition of a mini fridge in our room would have been appreciated to store our own drinks or snacks. My only disappointment really was the 3 large catering units sited directly on the front of the hotel which completely obscured it from view and made it feel a bit like it was container unit site with a hotel behind it. They seemed to serve no real purpose to the hotel either and the generator powering them did detract from the peaceful location.
The hotel did have extensive beer gardens next to the units which gorgeous views over the river wye which was nice to sit in for the evening.

It is pretty disheartening that we can not get a little bit of sympathy for our current issues and the efforts we are making to keep the business running. Catering Units "seemed to serve no real purpose" actually this is currently our only way of providing breakfast, lunch and dinner. We suffered a devastating incident a few weeks back that left our normal kitchen destroyed and not usable. We have gone to extreme efforts to get temporary kitchens in place so that we can continue to trade. We are working extremely hard along with our partners and contractors to get our internal kitchen back into action. Please do bare with us and be conscious that we are making every effort possible to achieve this. Pleased to hear that this customer felt the food was to a high standard despite the fact that they did not realise we are achieving this under very difficult circumstances.

The room would have been perfect however there was no air conditioning and the room was boiling. It was only possible to crack the window open. Staff were amazing really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was brilliant. We had a couple of meals that weren’t as described …. The lamb in lamb ragu was mince not pulled lamb and the noodles in the Chinese chicken were watery. The position of the hotel is ideal and we would return.

Hotel is ok, but decor is tired and rooms basic and a bit dark. No real view of the river behind a tall chimney and trees. We were told we had been allocated the wrong rooms, but then noone followed up with any more info so was a bit confused. My bed was very hard and my friends was very soft, so no consistency. Parking is a nightmare in the summer and the access road to the hotel a bit scary. Navigating the carpet was worse. There was a power cut in the night which meant that my friends medical breathing machine cut out and she couldn't breathe. All i could hear was something continuously beeping because the power was out which meant i couldnt sleep through it. No back up power, no staff around to deal with anything or reassure residents, no telephone backup to call for an emergency, either landline or mobile. We didnt feel safe. We did see one member of staff who left my friend in a distressed state in the foyer. We left very early in the morning before traffic on the access road made escaping impossible. Food was expensive in both hotel and general location probably because you are trapped there. Nice setting, but not such a great experience.

A lovely hotel in an idylic location. Car park is £8 for 24 hrs paid through the hotel, breakfast was good and plentiful and the room was large and quiet. There are evening meals served here and also a pub next door with meals and riverside seating. 1 min walk to the ferry that can take you across the river to another pub that serves food all day. Had a great night stay here and I will be back.

Very clean room. Comfortable bed. Had a forest view but to be fair it's a tall wall full of foliage. Could have looked nicer with a bit of planting / tidying up. Restaurant breakfast & evening meal were both great. Pleasant staff.
