Wonderful stay and dinner

This was my fourth stay at the hotel for business. It’s such a nice hotel, peaceful and relaxing and the food in the restaurant is fresh and delicious. Excellent service from Lucas and Ryan.

Not happy at all

When we arrived, we were initially very happy with the warm welcome. We were told that, as a gesture, we had been upgraded to superior rooms, which was a lovely surprise.
Unfortunately, once we went up to the rooms, both of the rooms we had booked were still dirty. There was dust everywhere, an actual fingernail on the floor, and the windows clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. They had been left open, and there were even cobwebs that had developed in the part of the window that had been left open.
We reported the issue and were told that the cleaner had gone upstairs to check and clean the rooms, and that we could change rooms if we wanted. We went to see our rooms, but they were still dirty. At that point, we decided not to change rooms because, considering the standard of cleanliness we had seen, we felt there was little point. We had two rooms, and unfortunately, both were in the same condition.
Another disappointment was discovering only at check-in that the swimming pool and spa were closed. We had specifically chosen and booked the hotel partly because of the pool, and this information was not clearly stated anywhere when we made the reservation. Finding out only upon arrival was very disappointing.
That said, there were also some very positive aspects. The breakfast deserves a 10/10 — definitely one of the best we have had. The reception staff and the lady serving breakfast also deserve a 10/10 for their kindness, helpfulness and welcoming attitude.
Overall, it was a stay with some real positives, especially the wonderful breakfast and the excellent staff, but unfortunately the cleanliness of the rooms was far below what we expected, and the lack of clear information about the pool and spa closure was very disappointing.

Stunning, classic old hotel.

So, this is a truly old building - its far from perfect. BUT - I love old places, this has massive amounts of character. A renovation has been done and is in progress. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the feel of the place is amazing. Staff very friendly. Food is really good, fresh produce and reasonably priced.
While we were here we had deer roaming the terrace outside the bar, stunning.
Support a business that is not a chain, you will be surprised.
