Relaxing stay
Hotel- room very comfortable , single beds only 2ft 6 not 3ft but it can be a kingsize.
Had to move the beds and it was very dusty underneath.
Bathroom spacious and comfortable with l’occitane toiletries .
Usual Nescafé instant coffee but a fresh shortbread biscuit , water in the fridge which was most welcome .
Food - I was a little disappointed in my choices .
The chicken tikka was thigh meat and not very spicy and to be honest eat the presentation looked like it had been dropped and thrown back on a pitta bread . Black treacle ice cream underwhelming .
Breakfast was lovely and the coffee was actually better than the one bought previous evening .
Pool was really good in the hot weather , changing area next to pool a bit murky . Pool had leaves and bugs in it but to be expected as in the gardens .
Staff very very helpful and friendly - though they do t seem to like you using the toilet near the wedding room .
Would I go again - absolutely

Really lovely place, peaceful location, pleasant staff, great food & nice room. Just go, you wont be dissapointed!

A lovely afternoon tea
My elderly parents enjoyed afternoon tea to celebrate their wedding anniversary, here. They said the food was delicious and plentiful and the staff were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. They thoroughly enjoyed a walk around the beautiful gardens and said will definitely go again.

Be warned of the service charge!
Booked through secret e**apes which markets itself as a luxury holiday company. It was advertised as a "Deluxe Kingsize room".
We stayed in the Watson room. It had a shower room in wardrobe. This shower room smelled terrible. Reported it to management who gave me a can of air freshener! Our 9 year old niece shared a room with us. The room was not"deluxe" and given that the hotel was supposed to be 4 star I was disappointed. The room was not big. No bath. The wardrobe was tiny. No drawers anywhere in the room. The carpet looked like a public building government issue carpet. It was decorated in very dark colours and the lighting wasn't great. Its only saving grace was 2 windows and a fan which was welcomed given the ongoing heatwave. The holiday advert specified prosseco on arrival but the reception staff never mentioned it. I had to ask. The advert specified bath robes but they were not in the room. I had to ask for them. The advert specified use of the swimming pool but when we put our bathing costumes on and went downstairs we heard another guest kicking a fuss up because he too wanted to swim but when he got to the pool it had been hired out to a private group and was told it was a private party so couldn't swim. He also hadn't been given bathrobes or prosseco. The receptionist needs training on how to handle upset customers. Instead of diffusing the situation she poured petrol on the flames by arguing back! And made out its not a problem if the pool is unavailable to a customer who paid for a swim break because it will be available after the private party finishes. Therefore we had to wait 15 minutes for the pool. The food was good. Not the best, but good. Dining room staff were nice and the table linen was good. Breakfast was a little chaotic
They did not lay out the usual cereals/yogurts/fruit etc on a buffet table so the staff were constantly running around serving croissants to people and fetching butter and ketchup etc. My husband asked for some sourdough toast but never got it. Be warned!! They slap a 12.5% service charge on all food and drink. Given that the prices are high end to begin with and the staff are not brilliant a 12.5% service charge is a slap in the face. Eg it costs £15 for a cheese and biscuit desert. This included 3 small pieces of cheese, some grapes and half a dozen crackers probably made in Russia (they were black, tasteless and very hard). But then to add 12.5% onto this base price is not acceptable. At checkout we found we had been charged £35 per night for a bed for our 9 year old. £35 per night for a hard, lumpy, fold up bed measuring 2 foot 6 inch with one flat pillow is not acceptable. I asked for the service charge to be removed. I wont be going back.
