Not for a quiet night away
Booked to stay after a gig. I had glanced over reviews so knew it was above a bar, was actually surprised at how many rooms there are it's like a rabbit den. We stayed in Sister Act, and I have to say the bed was so so comfy. Like falling into a cloud after dancing all night. You can hear the bar, but I came prepared with ear plugs and sleep aids. You can hear adjoining room activity too but once I snuggled down I drifted off just fine. Room is small but enough room for two of us to get ready. No bathmat or hand towels and had to get some more loo roll from down the hall. Rooms aren't the cleanest in terms of cobwebs and dust but for what we paid it was sound and I actually would stay again. Bar below finished up around 2am, so I'd say check times on google if you want to stay here and Maybe avoid the 5am finishes if that will bother you.

Over priced, stay somewhere much better for cheaper
The price was great, but actually it was very poor value for money in the end. After one night we checked out (should have been two) and stayed in a far superior hotel with much better facilities and cleanliness for less money. The location was great if you like to be in the middle of all the bars and hustle and bustle of the city (until 4 in the morning!!)
The room was dirty (cob webs everywhere), the room was not the room we booked and was smaller than advertised. There was no Wi-fi so the TV did not work. The fire precautions i.e. escape routes and escape instructions were very poor. One of the windows was damaged so could not be opened (a problem when it is very hot). The as described 'luxury reception area' was a total joke, this is just a place with a water boiler and some poor quality tea and coffee. Overall very poor value for money. Its a third rate hotel charging first rate prices. Stay in the Queens for the same price (or less) and live in a bit of comfort!! Called and e-mailed the management several times but with no response at all!!

The place is soooooo noisy, at best this hotel is somewhere to leave your bags and nothing else. Cold, terrible amenities and the noise levels are out of this world. It’s a scruffy hovel. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, you’ll have a better sleep in the bus stop along the road.
Water pressure is barely enough to wash the soap off your body. Towels are thread bare. Carpet rivals that of a weatherspoons.
The place is soooooo noisy, at best this hotel is somewhere to leave your bags and nothing else. Cold, terrible amenities and the noise levels are out of this world. It’s a scruffy hovel. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, you’ll have a better sleep in the bus stop along the road.

Smelly and disgusting is an understatement
I had the worst experience of a hotel and how a room should never be presented to a guest, I was suppose to stay in room 14, I checked in got my key and made my way upstairs to the room, I opened the door and the room instantly stunk of piss I started gipping and covered my face up to try prevent the smell, I looked at the carpet and there was debris all over from the last guests thst stayed in the room there were tampax on the floor, used medicine/tablet packets food crumbs and some kind of confetti stuff, extinguished cigarettes on the sill of the balcony doors, I walked around the bed to the bathroom to find more food on the bathroom floor, a very stinky shower curtain the smell was just disgusting i actually vomited in the toilet it was that bad I took videos and photos and made my way downstairs to make a complaint at the Viaduct bar where I checked in, apparently the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms were available so couldnt offer another room, no offer of a refund or to try compensate the fact I now had nowhere to stay, I contacted booking.com customer services who dealt with the situation briefly and proffesionally. I will never book to stay here ever again after that experience. Absolutely vile.

Horrific experience. Impossible to sleep with music playing until 5
Genuinely horrific experience and would not recommend.
Firstly the hotel is extremely dimly lit and uncomfortable bordering on scary to walk to your room alone in the evening. You check in at the bar next door and are given an access code and a key to a room and left to climb the creaky, dark stairs alone.
The room itself was a good size but not particularly clean. The window surround had black mould and brown splatter stains on the glass from who knows what. The carpet had a number of stains as well and it all just felt a bit grubby. The bathroom had lots of stray hairs around the sink and toilet and more mould in the shower.
The shower lacked sealant around the glass door meaning the floor ended up covered in water after a 5 minute shower. Given the hotel only provides 2 towels, I had to use one of the bath towels to mop up the water on the floor/use a floor mat and the hotel lacked proper extraction so the whole room filled with condensation and the bathroom door was on a slider and did not close fully at either end so no way of keeping the shower steam contained to the bathroom but also not private in any way if you wanted to fully close the door.
The bathroom also had the smallest vanity area/not a single shelf anywhere so your toiletries either had to teeter on the edge of the sink or go on the floor. Not ideal given how wet the floor becomes after a shower.
The bedroom also lacked bedside tables or anywhere to put your luggage.
All of it just felt really badly designed. Like the owner had never stayed in a hotel before and completely overlooked basic amenities like hand towels, toilet roll, storage space or shelves.
All of those things were not ideal but the real problem came late at night where sleeping was impossible.
The location of the hotel is directly above a bar/club so some noise would be expected.
However, it is not advertised anywhere on the booking website that the music will be played until 5am and is extremely loud in the rooms. My room was on a higher floor and I could not only hear all the music, shouting from outside but also feel the bass from multiple floors down. I expected at 11 it might get quieter and again at 2 and 3 but the music and noise went on until 5am which is insane especially for a weekday night. I think this is a really really important thing to be aware of if booking to stay here. It is impossible to sleep with music that loud playing until 5am.
The other thing is the noise from the trains. The hotel is about as close to the train line as you can get without actually being in a carriage so you do feel and hear it when a train comes past.
I genuinely would not recommend this place unless you plan to be awake until 5am anyway and don’t mind a slightly dirtier hotel.
