Lovely stay for a last minute trip to Margate

Stayed here with my 9 year old son for one night. We had room 4 which had no ensuite bathroom but had a shared toilet just down the corridor, shared shower upstairs and a sink in the room. The hotel reached out to tell us this before arrival and also offered us the chance to upgrade to an ensuite on arrival if we wanted to (we chose not to). We never had an issue with the toilet or shower being occupied when we wanted to use them. Overall the whole stay was great, the location is brilliant for exploring Margate and is less than 2 mins to the train station, the room was clean and tidy and plenty big enough for the two of us, and the hotel was very peaceful.

Lovely stay at Burlington

Stayed at the Burlington for 2 nights with my children. Booked as one of the more reasonable priced hotels for the area. Lovely stay, room was very nice and clean. Included kettle and tea making facilities, a wine chiller, TV and a fan, with en suite shower. My children loved the complimentary sticks of rock and biscuits. The hotel is very close to Margate seafront, which was great for accessing the beach, arcades, Turner art gallery and dreamland. Hotel was very quiet. We had breakfast at the bus cafe which was less than 5 minutes walk away, which was very tasty. We did on the first day ask for WiFi codes, but they did not work. Hotel manager advised to come back later to try and get them working, but we were too busy out and and about so we did not need them in the end. Overall very nice stay and would use this hotel again!

Not as expected

The room was very clean but very small with no view, no breakfast and certainly not worth £160 for 1 night.
We stay in hotels regularly and this wasn't anywhere near the standard that we have experienced before.

Not a proper hotel. A rip off.

This is not so much a hotel as a collection of rooms in a narrow house - there is no reception or common areas that we could see and no breakfast. It feels cramped. We booked the “deluxe” double room on the top floor with a sea view. It did indeed have a sea view out of rickety old windows but it was extremely cramped. The tiny bathroom contained the smallest shower cubicle I’ve ever entered. I was not able to “keep showering to a minimum” as instructed by the sign in the bathroom as it took about 10 minutes of fine tuning the temp to get it neither icy nor scalding. The red bed sheets were not to my taste but others may like them. The building feels quite run down, in common with the prevailing air of dilapidation in Margate.
On the plus side it was spotlessly clean and the tea making facilities were welcome.
For £150 for the tiny room this has to be the worst value I can recall.

Standard and good for a night.

Greeted on arrival and shown to room, the room was en-suite, airy and bright with coffee/tea making facilities, wine fridge, TV and a comfy bed. Room great, really clean and cosy. Facing the sea we found that it’s very noisy with the road and window open (summer) alas no breakfast available within the hotel. Great for overnight if watching a concert at dreamland as it’s a 5 min walk….plus easy train access. Happy with our stay.
