Warm pleasant stay

We had a warm welcome on the first day of our roadtrip through Scotland. Very cosy pub, friendly staff, superb food (the lamb !), great breakfast. Clean rooms. Private parking ! Nice little town.

Charming Inn with Fantastic Food

After a wonderful but exhausting few nights in Edinburgh, we set out to explore Melrose because the Borderlands are apparently where our ancestors are from. Melrose was peaceful and perhaps one of the most pristine towns I have ever seen. It was wonderful to take a quiet walk there and check out the Abbey just down the street. The rooms were actually a little larger than your typical Scotland Inn. Like almost every Inn or hotel we stayed in, there was no air conditioning (and the county was experiencing a rare heat wave). Still, there were fans and the beds were quite comfortable.
In addition, I had what I will count as one of the best meals of my life at Burt's. My family and I were seated in the decadent Dining Room towards the back of the Inn. My father had the pork-belly and my sister the Schnitzel. I ordered the Lambs Belly out of sheer curiosity. I have had my share of Lamb Chops in the States, but can't ever recall seeing Lamb's Belly on a menu.
When I visited Scotland as a college student many years earlier (and on a budget), I loved the country but found the food bland and tasteless. This meal, however, was absolutely fantastic. It wasn't cheap but it was worth every dollar.
Melrose is a town more suited for middle-aged to elderly people. Hardly a place of lively pubs. But is made a perfect respite after being overwhelmed by Edinburgh. I would, without hesitation, give Burt's Hotel a perfect score.

Super supper

We visited Burts this eve for a supper, we haven't visited for 6 years...
The waitressing staff were as efficient as we remember, very methodical.
Our menu choices were well received, the Pork escalope with cauliflower purree & roasted mew potatoes, was delightful... 10 out of 10.. to you all.

Although only staying 2 nights, room was serviced each day and this is not usually the norm in my, family & friends experiences.
All members of staff I encountered were excellent.

Burts is its staff

Our 2 night stay coincided with the "ride out" which was a real bonus. The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant, helpful and communicative answering all manner of queries and questions with apparent pleasure. In addition the bedroom was very comfortable and the food of tasty and delicious.
