Excellent and friendly Inn in the Forest of dean

The location was picked as the inn was in the centre of the Forest of Dean. The inn had a nice feel to it and the decor was to a very high standard. We had the family room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Overall the stay was very good value for the money we spent. The breakfast’s were also very fresh and hot. It was very quiet at night and it had good amenities. Dogs are also welcome. We would definitely go back at sometime.

Great place to stay

great location surrounded by the forest, fantastic for dog walks and seeing the sights. We love staying at the Fountain, always a warm welcome, comfortable and clean rooms and great food in a very friendly pub. we have returned a few times and will return again.

What a wonderful experience!

Sadly we weren't staying here for the nicest of reasons, but for the wake of my lovely Uncle. I shared a twin room with my Dad (Room 3). That said, what a fabulous place! Extremely friendly welcome upon arrival, despite us being early (we chanced check-in before the funeral). Show to our room straight away, by a very welcoming lady. Our breakfast order was placed upon arrival, so all we had to do following the funeral was enjoy time with family and friends. All of the bar staff were fantastic and friendly, the buffet was excellent too. Really impressed by the room too, everything you could possibly need and impeccably clean. The pub itself is lovely, with seating out front and a beer garden too. Now... for those who've not visited the Forest of Dean, taxis are a rare breed! My Auntie (whose husband's funeral we'd attended that day) was struggling to get a taxi home, with some other family members. Much to our surprise and delight, a kind young lady behind the bar said she would give them a lift home! This blew my mind a little, as you rarely see genuine kindness like that, nowadays. Breakfast was also excellent, much needed after a 'few too many' the night before. Overall, a fantastic, friendly and welcoming choice, I couldn't recommend it more.

Great place to stay

Very friendly, helpful staff. Room was spacious and clean. Great location for us to visit family. It is a beautiful location and has a family atmosphere. Food was great. Thank you for a wonderful weekend

Where nothing is too much trouble!!

Our second stay in this truly special place where nothing is ever too much trouble and the staff will go to great lengths to make you comfortable. Friendly atmosphere and delicious food - great value!!
