My first guesthouse

My first guesthouse and what an experience. A fully cooked breakfast daily, two lovely hosts who help out whenever they can, muffins baked for your birthday when you get back from a hike and a cute dog with endlessly energy.
The beds were very comfortable, the room had coffee, tea, hot chocolate and some little snacks. Very quiet inside but if you do open the window you could get road noise but that didn’t bother us and can’t be helped. Had an issue with something and they solved it promptly and it was nice being able to ask them for suggestions about where to eat and they gave us homemade flapjack for our journey home.

Home from home

We’ve just stayed at the Blue Swallow guesthouse for 2 nights as we were taking part in trek26 and all I can say is wow. Karen and Alison are so lovely and welcoming when you arrive and make you feel right at home. The rooms are lovely, clean, tidy and have everything there that you would need but if there was anything you needed nothing was too much trouble and they would sort it for you with no hesitation. Breakfast was amazing, a lot to choose from and great service. Our visit was made even better by cuddles from their dog Bunty who always greeted us with a waggy tail. A house is not a home without a dog. Would definitely recommend staying here and will 100% return if I’m staying in Penrith again. Thank you again Karen and Alison

Cyclists’ perfection

We stayed at this wonderful guest house at the beginning, and end, of our coast to coast cycle trip. As all reviews have mentioned, it is a charming and well looked after place, spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds. Karen and Alison were so wonderfully welcoming, they gave us daily supplies of home made flapjack and even stuffed our cycling shoes with paper towels to help dry them out after a particularly wet Lake District day. They really care so much, it is quite humbling. Thank you for everything!

Definately go back

We had a lovely time here, thanks mainly to our hosts, Karen and Alison. They are superb, just cannot do enough for you. We'll certainly be back here. Thank you ladies, so much.
The extra little touches added in our room (homemade tiffin and tablet) even GF tiffin and biscuits for me made our fairtrade drinks more enjoyable.

Fantastic!

Absolutely superb guest house , the hosts were exceptional, very friendly and welcoming, we absolutely loved all the homemade touches , chocolate tiffin and scotch tablet in the room , preserves at breakfast and flapjack when leaving , room had everything you need for a comfortable stay , we were given fresh milk each day which is a massive bonus for me as I love my tea! The room was spotless and breakfast delicious. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again
