Very pretty campsite

Welcoming hosts found us a shady spot to pitch our tent. Good facilities. Fridge/freezer was very useful in the heat. Other guests were mainly couples (this was before school holidays). Very picturesque site, it made a pleasant change to rows of regimented hard standing caravans. Short drive into Rye. Possible to walk there over fields.

Practical spacious campsite.

Clean facilities, hot showers. Spacious pitches, slight slope. Some traffic noise during the day. Convenient location for Rye. Idyllic scenery. Nearest pub is a short walk down the road.

Mixed messages, not a pub, it is a camp site with B&B accommodation

The name 'Hare and Hounds' conjures up a pub, whilst the property is actually a camp site with B&B accommodation. We stayed for one night in a large, very comfortable, purpose built annexe, comprising 4 B&B units. The room was well fitted out with a very comfortable bed and an impeccable bathroom. Harriet, the site owner, showed us our room and explained the breakfast procedure for the following morning, which you have to pre select the night before, together with your preferred time. Breakfast turned out to be somewhat hectic as all 4 couples turned up within minutes of each along with a guests' dog. We felt a bit 'processed' as during the mellee of people trying to make their own toast and coffee and cereals, the hot breakfasts were brought in. We had literally just started to eat our cereal when our cooked breakfasts were handed to us, such that we had to abandon our cereal. This was a minor issue which could have been avoided if each of the guests were allocated a specific time. From our arrival to our departure Harriet and her husband made us totally welcome and we would recommend staying with them as they are well positioned for visiting the area. The camp site appeared clean and well equipped. We did find access and egress from the property somewhat worrying as the view along the curved fast main road is shielded by shrubbery. The owners have provided 2 convex mirrors opposite the entrance but they did little to help as they are very small. We actually turned left with the flow of traffic rather than cutting across oncoming vehicles. The nearest pub was closed at the time of our visit so we had to travel into Rye for our evening meal.

Lovely family camping trip

We camped here over the recent bank holiday weekend. It’s a lovely site for families, good facilities, spacious pitches and everything you need close by. A great spot for exploring Rye or Camber Sands. Special mention for Jempsons supermarket down the road which is fantastic.

Peaceful campsite in a lovely setting near to Rye.

A lovely peaceful campsite in an excellent location near Rye. The facilities were good and well thought out. The nearby enchanted woods were great for walking the dog. Loos and showers were immaculate, and the owners were extremely helpful. We would return again.
