Great winter night away with friends

Lovely pub with friendly hard working staff. If there’s anything better than sitting in front of a fire with my dog, pint and a book on a cold January evening I can’t think of it. Thanks to all of you for the lovely stay. Food was good, room was comfortable and everything worked! See you again.

Very poor

Went with six friends - my partner and I both had fish and chips. I think honestly the worst fish and chips I have had. Haddock still with skin on it, hard batter, undercooked chips and hard cold peas. If you can’t get a basic pub dish like that right it’s not a good sign. Can see there’s been a previous comment on this particular dish stating similar views. We appreciate pubs are struggling but really need to focus on basic quality.

So disappointing…..

We both ordered fish and chips with crushed peas, costing approximately £18 each. Very disappointing. Food can only be described as bland, no flavour. If you’re charging this sort of price, please pay a little extra for decent ingredients. I’d like to know if the fish was fresh or frozen. Won’t be returning.

Great vegan food!

We had lunch here and on a slightly chilly October Sunday were pleased to have a table next to the roaring log fire. Service was quick and friendly and there were several vegan options which is nice to see on a menu. Our food was served in a timely manner and was absolutely superb. Everyone enjoyed their choices. The atmosphere in this old place is lovely and there are lots of walks nearby. Highly recommended.

A rare and wonderful find

The whole experience from room, to food, staff and facilities could not be faulted. Easy to find, plenty of parking, a wonderful find for my short trip to watch my son do a wing walk for Cancer Research in memory of my late husband, his father. Chester and I were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble
