A Wonderful Stay at Butt Lodge
We recently stayed at Butt Lodge on the Isle of Arran, recently taken over and ran by Clelland and Christine Walker.
From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and genuine, which set the tone for the whole stay. Our room was beautiful, really spacious, thoughtfully laid out, and with a separate sitting area where we ended up having breakfast each morning.
One of the real highlights was the wildlife. We could watch it all from the room windows, including regular visits from red squirrels, which was such a treat.
There were lots of nice local touches too, like the Arran toiletries, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was a bit different, a Scottish continental-style hamper delivered to the room each morning, packed with great local produce like cured venison, Arran cheese, fresh milk and granola.
As Butt Lodge doesn’t serve evening meals, we made the most of the local spots. The pub in Lochranza is well worth a visit for both drinks and really good food, and Marra in Corrie was another standout, especially for seafood.
Clelland and Christine have created something really special here. We had such a relaxing stay, wish them all the best with it, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back or recommend it to anyone heading to Arran.

Fabulous stay
This was our second visit and it just gets better. Beautiful location between the mountains and the sea. Rhododendrons and irises were flowering. Red squirrels, rabbits and many birds entertained us. It was very peaceful apart from the song of the cuckoo and the occasional peacock. Lovely rooms beautifully furnished withe tasteful touches. Scottish version of a continental breakfast with local produce delivered to your room each morning. Thank you to Clelland and Christine for being such great hosts. We look forward to the next visit. Fabulous relaxing stay
We spent a lovely weekend at Butt Lodge. The room was incredible; really comfy bed with amazing views and lots of local Arran products for us to sample. Clelland and Christine were great hosts - we had homemade fruit cake on arrival and they helped give us lots of tips to make sure we had a great weekend in Arran. We loved spotting the red squirrel and deer. Would love to return!

Best room in arran. Back to Nature
Just spent 5 days in the Castle suite. Beautiful room with views of the Sleeping Warrior one side and the Lochranza Castle and amazing sunsets on the other side.
We had a welcome tray and a wee tot! Christine and Clelland were very friendly and housekeeping was top class.
Back to nature!!
Every morning deer were on the golf course, and red squirrels were playing in the garden. We saw seals at Newton Point.
Altogether a brilliant holiday.

A very pleasant stay
Butt Lodge is in a secluded part of Lochranza with lots of trees and land popular with red squirrels and deer which were exciting to see. Our hosts (who are soon to retire) were friendly and informative about the area. Our room had a very comfortable bed (which enabled us to sleep very well) and was equipped with a good TV. Although our room was rather cold (during our stay) there was a comforting heated towel rail in the bathroom. The food on offer was very good and we enjoyed our cooked breakfast and the evening meal we signed up for. Overall we were very pleased we chose Butt Lodge for our two night stay on Arran.
