Great hotel in a superb location.
They didn’t have a restaurant when we were visiting which may be because of the war, I assume. Apart from that the hotel is lovely and staff very helpful. They kindly booked our train tickets and made sure we had everything we needed.

A Hotel For Sex Tourism
The Grand Royal Hotel is anything but grand or royal. Honestly, it barely qualifies as a hotel. The grandiose name, a decent set of interior photos, great location, and affordable room rates totally lured me into booking my very first visit to Kyiv there.
The vast majority of guests are from the Middle East. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I love the Middle East and have enjoyed traveling there many, many times. While I did see a few friendly families staying at the hotel, most guests were single men or pairs of young men. This possibly explains why there were so many young scantly dressed, Ukrainian women, jostling their way in and out of the lobby...
After three nights of interrupted sleep caused by loud arguments, drunken singing, snoring, and sex-related moaning penetrating the thin walls of my room from those surrounding it, I finally had to check out of the Grand Royal Hotel.
In addition to the great location, the only really good thing I can say about this tired hotel is the reception staff. They were always kind and helpful and actually gave me a full refund for the three nights I didn't stay there.
The Grand Royal Hotel has a lot of potential to provide a much, much better hotel experience. But management is clearly neglecting this opportunity.

Worst experience ever!
This hotel is a total nightmare. The receptionists are the worst i have ever seen in my life. They ignore all your requests.. During my stay i asked them to send housekeeping to my room a few times but they always said ok but never send it for 4 days. . They don’t provide toiletries or complimentary bottle water as well.. No minibar, no kettle and the wi-fi is not stable.. This hotel treats you as a fool cash providers rather than a guests.. I highly recommend you to stay away from this place…

Stay away!
Run away from this hotel. Disgusting hotel with old furniture, air conditioning not working! terribly noisy, you can hear people breathing. I think this is a hotel for sexual delights, because every day until the morning I listened to the sounds of someone having sex. Worst hotel I've ever been to.

Much better than some reviews sy
I am on my last night of 4 here with my 18 year old daughter. From reviews was unsure what to expect but have been pleasantly surprised. The hotel has small entrance foyer and uses only half the rooms as the other side is unsafe and not in use. People were looking at it whilst we were there but it doesn’t affect the other half. The room was clean and tidy. Staff were happy to provide a 3rd quilt as I’m always cold. 1 on bed and 1 in cupboard. Pillows rather old but comfortable enough for me. Staff happy to accommodate all requests including providing me a kettle although coffee etc readily and cheaply available with takeaway breakfast at the street stall outside and McDonald’s opposite open from 7. 1 toilet roll at a time only but happy to bring another up. Towels clean and soft enough. Staff lovely. I really loved the decor with large room, large bed of 2 singles that zipped together for super king size. Balcony for great views along the street. Very quiet hotel. Rally pleased with value for money here and location.
