okay budget option

The hotel is very well located in central Buon Ma Thuot, only a few hundred meters away from the liberation monument. The, very good, Dak Lak Tour Agency is just across the street, heaps of cheap an good eateries and cafes as well.
The staff is very nice and helpful, WiFi works great on all floors and there are hot showers, which altogether makes this place a very good base for budget travelers.
I came here twice.
The rooms are very, very basic though, and when I checked in, there was some sand and dust on my mattress.
No trouble with insects of any kind, though.
One other thing that came to annoy me was an overly active rooster under my window, that started to call sunrise at around 3:30am :-)
Anyway, the low price and the aforementioned facilities together with the great location would sell the place to me any time.

Don't book the dorm

I booked the 16-bed dorm for 1 night. I was the only person there but the facilities were terrible. There was no hot shower, the showerhose was leaking up to the point that there was no water coming out of the showerhead. They lost the keys to the deposit boxes under the beds so they weren't available. For some reason the toilet for the staff is in the dorm, so I had people walking in and out of the dorm all night. And finally, there are lots of MICE! I can't say anything about the single rooms, but at least DON'T book the dorm.

Consider other options

This hotel has a very good location in the center of town not so far from the marketplace and the monument. Rooms are spaceous.
The shower was very leaky, there was no mosquitonet, the fan and tv was broken. But it was very cheap and the staff are very friendly.
Nevertheless, If you stay in this town you should consider other option for accomondation.

convenient location with the coolest older lady in BMT

On guesthouse row, you'll find a bunch of hotels and most will have the same prices. This place was pretty popular with foreigners and vietnamese. It wasn't anything to write home about, but I still really liked it here and this is why. The older lady who maybe owns the place or just hangs around all day is for real. She was so funny and very caring. One day I was fixing my bike in the lobby and she just walked up behind me, hits me in the back of my head and then offers me bread. It may sound a bit weird, but was very sweet in it's own way. We didn't speak a word of the same language but both could tell the other was a good egg.
Another benifit of this hotel is food locations. next door is a great wrap your own roll type place with great nem cha and across the street is a delicious juice spot. so if you're in BMT and want to save some cash and have a fun time then come here.

OK budget option except for the noise

In the absence of much guidance at all on the net for hotels in Buon Ma Thuot, we went by the LPs recommendation for this budget hotel. I inspected the room first and everything looked pretty much in order and clean and decent value and we were only going to be crashing there one night. It would have been fine except it was just incredibly noisy and we had a very poor nights sleep, even with ear plugs in. the room wasn't facing the street but the corridor looked like it opened directly to the street so we still got street noise anyway, but mostly the noise came from fellow guests (locals, not tourists). Maybe we just struck a bad night, but if you stay, make sure you bring good earplugs! Also the guidebook said there was internet but there wasn't.
