Disappointed Customer Service
However, one incident during checkout left a slightly unpleasant aftertaste.
A staff member approached us regarding missing towels. While I completely understand that hotels need to keep track of their items, the way the situation was addressed unfortunately made it feel as though we were being accused of stealing them.
To be completely honest, there had simply been a mix-up between our own white towels and the hotel’s white towels while packing. We even offered for our bags to be checked immediately, as we had absolutely nothing to hide, but the staff declined.
Later on, when we checked ourselves, we realized that our towels and the hotel towels had indeed gotten mixed together by mistake and we gave them back at the reception highlighting that probably our own towels are still upstairs or went to their laundry already (as the room was cleaned up by then). At that point, we honestly neither had the time nor the interest to investigate further over a few towels, so we left without collecting our own..
It may seem like a small interaction, but in a luxury 5-star hotel environment, situations like this should be handled with a bit more tact and discretion. Guests paying premium prices are very unlikely to intentionally care about taking a towel worth a few dollars.
Again, the stay itself was lovely, but I do believe this particular situation could have been addressed in a more professional and respectful manner.
