Nice little place

I stayed here for two nights in June. This is a nice little property, located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, about 3 km from the entrance to the Victoria Falls park (Zimbabwe side). So it's a bit of a hike to get to 'downtown' or the Falls. More of an issue in the dark than during the day. There was no free shuttle. A taxi ride to-from downtown was $5 US, so factor that into the cost savings of staying a bit out of the way. As for the hotel itself, my room was spacious and clean. With good wifi. The plumbing/warm water situation was a bit dicey, but I managed in the shower eventually. There was a breakfast provided.

Good value for money

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Flatdog. The room was a good size, lovely big bed with comfortable pillows & a big bathroom & shower. There are power cuts quite regularly which is a bit of a pain but this is usually during the day when you’re out exploring anyway. It’s about 20 min walk into town & we did this a few times - it’s really not that bad even in the heat. Alternatively the lodge can arrange a taxi for you which is $5 each way - really reasonable. It wasn’t the biggest breakfast spread in the world - yoghurts, toast, cereal & muffins - but serves a purpose. In comparison to a lot of other options we looked at Flatdog couldn’t be beaten on price. It was so much cheaper than any other options we looked at. Good quality lodge at a great price.

Great place to rest

Stayed in on my last night of holiday before returning home. It was the place I needed to get some good rest. Although it is a 2 / 3 star hotel, the bed and blankets were comfier than some of the more expensive places I've stayed at with higher star rating. It's quiet, so no noise from the restaurants in Victoria Falls. Also, one of the very few nights I didn't hear any mosquitos buzzing around me while I sleep.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. They will call a taxi if you need it. This place needs more visitors.

Disappointing, no water in room for eight hours a day

I totally understand that Flatdog lodge is at the budget end of accommodation in Vic Falls and was expecting the decor to be a bit dated and the room fairly small. However it’s not acceptable to have no water in the rooms for eight hours a day. No showers or flushing the loo is pretty grim. I recognise this is due to load shedding in Zim which is out of their control but they need to find a way of connecting the water pump to the generator or at least providing some buckets of water to the room. Or at least warn clients and maybe offer some kind of compensation. Really disappointing.

Quaint but away from town

Clean and colourfully decorated with interesting rooms and grounds.
Only downside is that the walk to town is quite long, they do offer a free shuttle to town to book activities.
I'd be happy to stay again.
